Just diagnosed with acid reflux and I am a singer. Has it been/ will it be damaging to my singing voice?

I have had chronic sinus problems and sore throats for a while and was just diagnosed with acid reflux. I am a pretty serious singer and I have heard that acid reflux can minimize my vocal range and damage my vocal chords. Does anyone know anything about it?
